    The Staff Accountant reports to the Accounting Supervisor


    Position Description:


    The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining timely, accurate financial records and performing financial analysis. The position will assume full ownership of balance sheet account reconciliations, financial closing activities and other analysis to support and execute our financial close process. The candidate for the Staff Accountant role must have a clear understanding of accounting guidance and processes, specifically in a Retail environment.


    • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for Retail and eCommerce Channels related to prepaid expenses and unbilled accruals
    • Work closely with the Retail and eCommerce operations teams to analyze expenses for month-end accruals and budget-to-actual reviews
    • Reconcile company gift card liability balances
    • Work closely with the marketing team to prepare marketing accruals and ensure expenses are in line with the Company’s advertising calendar
    • Calculate and manage commission and bonus programs for retail store employees
    • Reconcile company T&E spend to cash and accrue unsettled expenses
    • Provide overall financial support to senior management including preparation of various ad-hoc financial reports and special projects
    • Support various internal controls activities and the implementation of Sarbanes - Oxley 404 compliance requirements
    • Point of contact to support internal and external audits


    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
    • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience
    • Public accounting experience preferred
    • Retail experience required
    • Desire to make process improvements
    • Positive attitude, excited by new challenges and opportunities to make change
    • Ability to analyze data using Microsoft Excel
    • Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls policies and procedures
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Work effectively within the department and across departments
