    Organizational Structure: 

     

    The Product Development Assistant, Women’s Knits reports directly to the Product Development Manager.

    Responsibilities

    • Request all costs once proto-tech packs are sent at the beginning of each season; follow up with factories to ensure timely turnover of costs
    • Send out detailed emails to overseas vendors listing all styles/prices needed for Line Plan Validation (LPV) based on design line sheet
    • Create and update flash cost charts for LPV as costs are received from vendors
    • Maintain pricing on merchandising buy chart as needed
    • Partner with Merchandising for target wholesale retail pricing for all styles and prioritize styles according to LPV and Global Market Adoption (GMA) due dates
    • Request target wholesale & retail prices from merchandiser on all styles adopted at LPV
    • Create cost sheets for all styles adopted at LPV and any additional styles added later to the line
    • Build and maintain master cost books in line sheet order
    • Work with logistics on all pre classifications of garments for proper duty application in costing
    • Cross check freights costs with logistics to ensure proper freight costs are applied to cost sheets
    • Review lines sheet weekly for changes and updated cost sheets accordingly
    • Attend weekly meetings with development/design/technical design to ensure all changes are applied to costing
    • Compare cost breakdowns received from vendors to the tech packs sent to ensure that costs are accurate based on what was requested from technical design as prices are updated and submitted by vendor
    • Partner with Research & Development to ensure all tech packs & Bill Of Materials are consistent with fabric/trim specifications and costs
    • Collaborate with merchandising and design on cost saving options for high priced items in order to meet target margins
    • Send out standards to be followed for counter sourced fabrics/leathers
    • Work with factory on substitute fabrics, trims, yarns and any suggestions that may reduce cost of a garment
    • Request fabric detail sheets from factories for all counter sourced options
    • Ensure all yields entered in the cost breakdown are accurate for fabric projections/booking
    • Negotiate prices with overseas vendors to achieve maximum margin for women’s wovens and knitwear divisions from proto to production hand off once buys are received
    • Partner with Production to send counter tech packs for costing options between factories
    • Update and maintain cost sheets to reflect final line sheet for set up in system

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors Degree in Product Development or related field 
    • Must have one to two years (1-2) years of experience in Product Development
    • Must have knowledge of basic sewing construction, wovens and knits
    • Must have an understanding of apparel classification/duty as well as garment construction knowledge
    • Must have the ability to read and understand tech packs and pattern cards
    • Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    • Must have strong time management, analytical and organizational skills
    • Must have strong negotiation skills
    • Must have knowledge of production and production planning
    • Must be an effective team player
